The checklist points.

(b) — What we often find
The defects that matter to a buyer.
- Grooved frets at the first positions, high action, warped neck.
- Crack in the top or sides, lifting bridge.
- Crackling pots, silent pickup or selector.
- Amp: tired valves, hum, buzzing speaker.
- Keyboard: keys that only respond when struck hard.
(c) — Preparing the session
What to have at hand.
- The instrument tuned, strings on, and a cable with the amp for an electric instrument.
- A torch for raking light on the top and frets.
- A ruler to measure string height at the 12th fret.
- The case, invoices and any setup or repair records.
(d) — What the report does not say
Written limits, not promises.
- Sound is captured by the phone: the expert spots clear faults, they do not rate the tone.
- An amp is never opened: its capacitors can hold a dangerous voltage.
- Intonation depends on the tuning and strings at the time of the session.

Musical instruments
Is a crack on a guitar always serious?+
Not always, but it is always recorded: length, location, direction of the grain. The buyer decides with full knowledge.
Can a valve amp be checked?+
Yes: controls, inputs, background noise, visible valves and exterior condition. The inside is not opened, for your safety.
Does the report mention replaced parts?+
Yes, when they are visible or declared (tuners, pickups, valves). What cannot be checked is recorded as such.
